2009 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Possibly the best in its class. introductionthe honda cr-v is among the best of the compact suvs. Everything by way of instruments, controls and storage is, respectively, logically arrayed, properly placed, and reasonably plentiful. The back seats fold perfectly flat and without the holes that can be hazardous to dogs.  real time 4wd is offered on all three models. The 2009 fuel economy figures from the u. For 2009, the only changes are three new exterior colors. Built on a unit-body structure, the cr-v is considered a crossover. It is then priced as a separate model 27,745). Large, sharply angled headlight housings crowd the upper grille and blend down into the lower air intake. Stout fender flares stretch out to wrap tightly around the tires, giving the new cr-v a sturdy, planted stance.  the side aspect shows most clearly the cr-v's departure from the boxy, mini-suv look. Starting from the gently rounded hood, the relatively fast windshield flows into a roofline that drops ever so slightly as it passes over the sharply tapered glasshouse, ending at the tailgate's top edge, which itself is pulled forward to a point almost directly above the rear wheel well. A strong character line runs from the top of the front wheel well back beneath the full-round door handles to bifurcate the side marker lens of the rear taillight. To us, it looks a little like the mercedes-benz r-class in the overall outline.  the rear view presents more of the classic suv look, with a trapezoidal backlight bookended by the trademark cr-v high taillights and atop a fairly tall and relatively broad, high-relief tailgate panel. The oversize license plate recess will accommodate almost any country's registration telltale. A repeat of the front end's skid plate look masks the rear bumper's mass and draws the eye to tires pushed out to the edges of the cr-v's side panels. interiorthe interior of the honda cr-v focuses on function with a bit of style tossed in to make things interesting. Everything is in its place for the most part, and everything feels the way it should. Quality of materials and fit and finish overall live up to honda's standards; some trim pieces, however, showed traces of flash, those little flat bits of plastic left over from the seams of the original molds.  the grippy, waffle-textured, fabric upholstery feels durable. The ex-l's optional leather upholstery is richer looking and likely more durable, but no more comfortable. The front seats seem a little short on thigh support. But to the limited extent the cr-v lends itself to sporty driving, the seatbacks' side bolsters do an adequate job of keeping occupants' upper bodies in place. Not so the seat bottom's bolsters, those being clearly shaped more for ease of entry and exit than for restraining occupants' posteriors. It’s a nice touch.  dashboard and instrument cluster are classic honda, as in, friendly to eye and hand, with the only mildly discordant note the placement of the shift lever, sprouting from a pod suspended from the center of the dash. While neither as ergonomic as a floor-mounted lever nor as natural, in an archaic sort of way, as one mounted on the steering column, it is consistent with the emphasis on flexibility in the front seat area. In the lx and ex, the space between the front seats that might otherwise host a console and floor-mounted shift lever is dedicated to a unique, multi-use tray that when not needed folds down against the side of the passenger seat, opening a walk-through access to the rear seat. The ex-l gets a more traditional, fixed center console, with cup holders and storage space for up to 24 cd's; although some of this storage space is lost on ex-l's with navigation, where the console must house the cd changer as well. As if in compensation, a digital audio-card reader is still exclusive to the navigation model.  most drivers will find the six-way adjustable seat and two-way adjustable steering give them the best of all worlds: a comfortable posture without compromising outward visibility. A low cowl keeps the edges of the hood in view. Rearward vision, however, sets no new standard and actually suffers some from the stylishly shaped c-pillars. The rearview video cam that comes with the optional nav system helps and is an added safety feature because it can help the driver spot children behind the vehicle, though it lacks the guiding grid lines some others offer to help when backing into parking spaces and garages.  audio and climate controls on the lx and ex border on retro in their simplicity and arrangement. Large, rotary knobs control the functions that vary by degrees. Buttons are used for on/off or simple selections. However, when in park, the shift lever obstructs buttons for air conditioning functions and mirror heaters. And by operational necessity, the optional nav system layers audio and map display controls.  comparing cargo space, the new cr-v ranks in the top half, regardless of the competitor's seating capacity. It also features one of the nicest cargo compartments, flat and without the holes that can be hazardous to big dogs.  however, the cr-v does not offer a third-row seat, as does the toyota rav4 and other competitors, which expand seating to seven or even eight people. Even this latest cr-v stays with seating for five.  incidental storage is routine. Both the foldable tray and fixed center console boast two cup holders. The centerpiece below the shift pod holds a couple o. AM/FM✔ Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ Climate Control✔ Cruise Control✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Air Conditioning✔ CD Changer✔ Navigation System

2007 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New and improved for 2007. introductionthe new, 2007 honda cr-v is more powerful, more stylish and more comfortable than the previous-generation 2006 models. The latter comes trimmed in leather and can be fitted with an optional navigation system that incorporates a rearview video camera for safe and easy backing. The transmission is a new, five-speed automatic. Real time all-wheel drive is offered on all three models. Epa rates the front-wheel drive cr-v at 23/30 city/highway miles per gallon and the all-wheel drive at 22/28.  inside, compared with the 2006 cr-v, there's slightly more room in the front seat and slightly less room in the rear seat, except hiproom, which is up by about an inch. There's also marginally more cargo room. Everything by way of instruments, controls and storage is, respectively, logically arrayed, properly placed and reasonably plentiful.  in terms of safety, the new cr-v is fully featured. In addition to the required three-point seatbelts at all five seating positions and front seat airbags, people protection includes front seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear seat side air curtains with roll-over sensors and front seat active head restraints (which work to reduce whiplash in rear impacts). For crash avoidance, antilock brakes, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution and vehicle stability assist with traction control are all standard.  as for how the '07 cr-v stacks up against the competition, well, in a number of ways, it could do better. The mazda cx-7, which seats five, is more fun to drive and to look at. There's one engine, a 166-horsepower inline-4, and one transmission, a five-speed automatic. Gps-based navigation system with voice recognition and rearview camera 2000) is optional on the ex-l.  honda-approved accessories available from dealers (installation price set by dealers) include wheel locks 54); attachments/racks for bicycle 128), kayak 160), skis 139) and surfboard 75); roof box 299); auto-dim inside mirror with compass 225); amplified bass speaker system 315); and backup sensors 259).  safety features that come standard include the required three-point seatbelts at all five seating positions, front airbags and child safety seat anchors (latch), front seat-mounted side airbags (to minimize upper body injuries in side impacts); roof-mounted, front and rear seat side air curtains (to minimize head injuries in side impacts and rollovers); and front-seat active head restraints (to minimize neck injuries in rear impacts).  for crash avoidance there are antilock brakes (which let the driver steer during panic stops); electronic brake-force distribution (which optimize brake application during emergency stops); brake assist (which senses impending emergency brake application and boosts pedal pressure); vehicle stability assist (honda's electronic stability control system that attempts to minimize skidding in turns); and tire pressure monitors (which warn of dangerous drops in tire pressure). walkaroundboxy is out. Well, maybe not svelte. We're talking suvs, here. And honda, ever the quick learner, has responded with the fully re-styled, 2007 cr-v.  head on, the 2007's low, jutting jaw-like front bumper and skid-plate look pull its visual mass downwards, reducing its perceived height. Large, sharply angled headlight housings crowd the upper grille and bleed down into the lower air intake. Stout fender flares stretch out to wrap tightly around the tires, giving the new cr-v a sturdy, planted stance.  the side aspect shows most clearly the '07's departure from the boxy, mini-suv look. The front seats have slightly taller and marginally wider backs than their '06 counterparts, but are still short on thigh support. To the limited extent the new cr-v lends itself to sporty driving, the seatbacks' side bolsters do an adequate job of keeping occupants' upper bodies in place. Not so the seat bottom's bolsters, those being clearly shaped more for ease of entry and exit than for restraining occupants' posteriors. There is, however, a most welcome dead pedal against which drivers may brace a left leg as necessary and appropriate. Nice touch, as is the replacement of the right-hinged tailgate, which is on the wrong side for curbside unloading at u. Airports, with a top-hinged liftgate.  dashboard and instrument cluster are classic honda, as in, friendly to eye and hand, with the only mildly discordant note the placement of the shift lever, sprouting from a pod suspended from the center of the dash. 2008 honda element review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The honda element is a crossover sport utility vehicle designed to maximize space for people and cargo in a fairly small package, with driving characteristics similar to that of a small sedan. The honda element is available in three trims. All come with a 166 horsepower, 2. 4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a choice of five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but the lx and ex models are available with all-wheel drive. Tough, stain-resistant upholstery and urethane floors make for easy clean ups. The element sc trim, dubbed an "urban cruiser," comes with a fully painted exterior. Its suspension is lower and stiffer for improved handling, and it has larger 18-inch wheels. The 2008 model is a carryover from 2007.

2008 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Broad line of superb compacts. introductionthe honda civic holds its position at the top of this highly competitive class, with innovative styling, segment-leading refinement, and a broad model line that ranges from eco-friendly to sport-compact racy.  the civic is comfortable and affords the driver outstanding outward visibility. It comes standard with side-impact airbags and other safety features that are optional on competitive models.  the 2008 lineup includes a new leather-upholstered ex-l model and a hot mugen si sedan, with high-performance suspension, forged aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling, and a sport-tuned exhaust.  civic was last restyled and reengineered for 2006, and the sporty si coupe was reintroduced at the same time. The hybrid features dramatically reduced emissions, and it delivers an epa-rated 40/45 mpg city/highway, second only to the toyota prius.  a natural gas-powered civic, the gx sedan, is available to residents of california and new york, but can also be found in fleets there and elsewhere. lineupthe 2008 honda civic is available in coupe and sedan versions. A five-speed automatic 800) is optional.  the honda civic dx coupe 14,810) and sedan 15,010) are the base models. Standard equipment is confined to power windows, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, height-adjustable driver's seat and fold-down rear seatback. The coupe gets a rear decklid spoiler. Brakes are disc in front, drum in rear. P195/65r15 tires wrap around steel wheels with full-cover hubcaps.  the civic lx coupe 16,760) and sedan 16,960) add air conditioning; cruise control with steering-wheel-mounted controls; power door locks with keyless entry; center console with sliding armrest; overhead map lights; and express up/down for the driver's power window; p205/55r16 tires on steel wheels with covers. The coupe has six speakers and a rear-seat walk-in feature that remembers the front passenger seat's setting.  the civic ex coupe and sedan 18,710) add power moonroof; variable-speed windshield wipers; a second 12-volt power outlet; a 60/40 split folding rear seatback; and outside temperature indicator. The keyless remote adds a trunk release button. They come only with a six-speed manual transmission. Other go-fast goodies include a limited-slip differential, sport suspension, electronic vehicle stability assist system with traction control, and p215/45r17 tires on 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside are synthetic suede sport seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob; 350-watt stereo. Packages include high-performance p215/45zr17 tires for the coupe 21,310) and sedan 21,510); xm and navigation 22,860 and $23,060); or with all of the above 23,060 and $23,260).  new for 2008 is the mugen si sedan 29,500), which includes sports suspension, forged aluminum 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels, a full aerodynamic body kit with an adjustable rear wing and diffuser, and a sport-tuned exhaust.  the civic hybrid sedan 22,600) features a continuously variable automatic transmission (cvt), automatic climate control, a roof-mounted radio antenna, a rear decklid spoiler, and hybrid-pertinent digital data displays. The hybrid is also available with the navigation system and xm satellite radio 24,350).  the civic gx 24,590) is essentially an lx sedan with a 1. 8-liter engine powered by natural gas. It comes only with a five-speed manual transmission. It comes with an auxiliary audio input jack for 2008. walkaroundthe honda civic sedans and coupes don't share any body panels. Details and markings distinguish each trim level.    a bright horizontal bar, with a prominent honda h in the middle, dominates the sedan's grille. Slender headlamp assemblies angle upwards as they curve around the fenders. A single, broad air intake fills the lower portion of the fascia.  the coupe grille is more delicate, with the honda logo suspended in a two-tier frame. The central lower air intake opens between two geometric side recesses that feed cooling air to the front disc brakes and house the optional fog lamps. Even more so than with the sedan, the coupe front end pushes the leading corners down and outward, emphasizing the wide track (the distance side to side between the tires).  save for a lower body character line, drawn slightly higher on the coupe than on the sedan, the sides of the civic are more slab than sensuous. Understated fender blisters, more pronounced on the coupe, break up the otherwise featureless expanse. What excitement there is in the side view is in the sleekness of what honda calls a monoform design. A central expression of this is the windshield, the leading edge of which reaches into the hood all the way to the middle of the front wheel wells, pushing the cab-forward design concept to a new extreme. On the coupe, the windshield is raked at a radical 21. 9 degrees; the sedan's at a barely more upright 23. 9 degrees.  the sail panel (the body panel aft of the rear side window) is unique to each model. The coupe's forms an acute angle with the horizontal deck surface, emphasizing the two-door body style; while the sedan's curves down over the rear door's trailing edge, pulling the eye through the higher roofline. The coupe's be-spoilered, rounded rear profile suggests swiftness. The sedan's somewhat abbreviated trunk lid and high, chunky tail end add perceived mass to a tightly proportioned, smallish sedan.  likewise, the rear view of each body style differs markedly. The coupe's sloping trunk lid settles into a deep cut in the rear bumper, with the license plate sheltered in an equally deep recess. The sedan's trunk lid drops in an almost vertical, unrelieved sheer from a relatively high crest across the top.  the si sedan and coupe have another grille variation with a body-color bar on top and a black bar underneath; an understated si badge is tucked away to the far right. An i-vtec label appears just forward of the rear wheel well; on the si sedan it's placed low on the rear door. Both feature subtle body cladding.  the mugen si is more extroverted, distinguished immediately by its bi-plane rear spoiler and aggressive aero extensions all around the lower body and a diffuser in the rear bumper. Up front is an all-black version of the si grille that looks weirdly like parted lips wearing goth-black lipstick; a mugen badge beckons from the upper right lip. Businesslike 18-inch, seven-spoke wheels, open in design to show off the brake calipers, complete the mugen ensemble. Honda promises to limit production to a maximum of 1000 for the model year, all painted fiji blue pearl.  the hybrid, in contrast, is understated, with just a small 'hybrid' badge under the right rear taillight. The dx edges more toward spartan inside, while the ex heads toward lush. Fit and finish meet honda standards. Plastic trim elements look high-grade, although the multi-piece dash invites concern about high-mileage squeaks and buzzes.  seats are comfortable, not plush. The fabric upholstery feels durable, and its robust nap assists the modest side and bottom bolsters in restraining occupants during spirited motoring. Seat bottoms provide better than average thigh support. The manual height adjustment on the driver's seat pivots on front hinges, forcing drivers to choose between seat height and legroom. The si and mugen models get sport front seats with synthetic suede upholstery and more aggressive bolsters both bottom and side for improved support.  the view out the front, with the expansive windshield, low cowl and sloping hood, is unparalleled in the class. A commensurately low beltline would enhance side vision, but otherwise there's little about which to complain. Tiny front quarter windows on the sedan, necessary to allow the front door windows to roll all the way down, push the side view mirrors a bit too far rearward for quick and easy glances at neighboring lanes.  controls are for the most part where they should be, but not necessarily as they should be. There's little symmetry in organization or shape of features and interfaces. It's not an unpleasant look, but one that requires some acclimation. Despite the seeming logic of the two-tier instru.

2008 honda cr-v review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. High-dollar crossover style in a compact-price suv. introductiononce funky and cute, the honda cr-v has grown up to look more like a high-dollar crossover. This latest-generation cr-v, completely redesigned and re-engineered for the 2007 model year, is more powerful and more comfortable than the previous-generation models. There is, however, a most welcome dead pedal against which drivers may brace a left leg as necessary and appropriate. The top-hinged liftgate is an improvement over right-hinged tailgates, which open the wrong way for curbside unloading at u. Airports.  dashboard and instrument cluster are classic honda, as in, friendly to eye and hand, with the only mildly discordant note the placement of the shift lever, sprouting from a pod suspended from the center of the dash. Rearward vision, however, sets no new standard and actually suffers some from the awkwardly shaped c-pillars. And by operational necessity, the optional nav system layers audio and map display controls.  comparing cargo space, the new cr-v ranks in the top half, regardless of the competitor's seating capacit. The accord family sedan combines high technology and high quality with everyday economy of operation and keen attention to detail. It comes in a sedan or coupe and has available leather or cloth upholstery. To control this power, there are the available five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. Standard safety features include side-impact and curtain airbags, in addition to the required dual front airbags, and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution. The honda accord is a carryover from 2006. Only small trim changes occur for 2007. Anti-lock Brakes
